Sherman Siskind

Sherman Siskind died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.  Born in Fairbank, PA August 19, 1936, age 72.  Of Squirrel Hill, he was a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter, Region 12 of P.A.S.R., the PA State Teacher’s Association, Aliquippa Lodge #583, F&AM (32nd degree Rose Croix), and Syria Temple of the Shrine.  He retired in 1993 as a teacher and vice principal in the City of Pittsburgh School District.

Son of the late Louis “Red” Siskind, he is survived by his mother, Rosella Palkovitz Siskind of Squirrel Hill, his beloved wife and friend of 50 years, Elaine Green Siskind, his sister, Simma (Sandy Sokolsky) Siskind of Squirrel Hill, brother in law, Paul (Adie) Green of Phoenix, AZ, 1 niece, 3 nephews, and cousins.

Private interment will be held Monday in the Tree of Life – Sfard Cemetery with the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 in charge of arrangements.  Friends will be received in the Siskind home, 3024 Beechwood Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA  15217 Tuesday from 5-7 PM.  The family suggests contributions to the Animal Rescue League of W. PA, 6620 Hamilton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA  15206-4188 or to a favorite charity.
