Aaron L. Lebowitz

Aaron L. Lebowitz died Saturday, January 26, 2008, at UPMC McKeesport. Born in McKeesport on October 31, 1922, age 85. Of White Oak, he was a retired pharmacist and owner of the former Aaron’s Pharmacy in White Oak. Member of Congregation Gemilas Chesed, he was a graduate of McKeesport High School and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. A WWII U.S. Army veteran, he served as Staff Sgt. in the Medical Corps in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Lebowitz was a member of the American Pharmacists Association, B’nai Brith, Jewish War Veterans, United States of America, Aliquippa Lodge # 375, F & AM, and the National Parkinson Foundation.

Son of the late David and Hannah Lebowitz, brother of the late Florence L. Siegel, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lebowitz, son, Murray D. (Julie) Lebowitz, M.D. of Bangor, ME, daughters, Debbie Manoff of Newmarket, NH, Barbara (Brian) Bresnan of Chantilly, VA, 5 grandchildren, Norman, Joseph, Max, Abby, and David, and brother-in-law, Murray Siegel of McKeesport.

A service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the downstairs chapel of Congregation Gemilas Chesed, White Oak with Rabbi Irvin I. Chinn and Rabbi Boaz Miller officiating. Interment will follow in New Gemilas Chesed Cemetery, White Oak. The family suggests contributions to Congregation Gemilas Chesed or White Oak Ambulance. The family wishes to thank the staff of McKeesport Hospital, Briarcliff Pavilion, with special thanks to his physician and friend, Laurence T. Ritchie, M.D. Hunter Funeral Home, 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport is in charge of arrangements.
