Gail Wampler

Gail Bestwick Wampler, 81, formerly of McKeesport, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester, PA after an extended period of illness with her husband, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Tammy, at her side.

Gail was born in Otto, PA on May 26, 1928 to the late Jacob H. Bestwick and Grace Minton Bestwick Prigg.

A 1946 graduate of McKeesport High School and graduate of Robert Morris University, she worked as an executive secretary at US Steel’s Duquesne Works for 10 years before shifting her attention to being a dedicated and loving full time mother and homemaker. She was a member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church and a long time member of Youghiogheny Country Club. She was active in the Ladies 9 hole golf group, various bridge clubs, and social groups. She and her husband relocated to Exton, PA in 2008 after living most of their lives in the McKeesport area.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 59 years, Robert J. Wampler of Exton, PA, son Robert J. Wampler III and his wife Tammy D. Wampler of West Chester, PA, son Randall J. Wampler and his wife Cheryl A. Wampler of Marietta, GA, and grandchildren Robert J. Wampler IV and his wife Kate S. Wampler, Todd P. Wampler, Ashley N. Wampler, and Julie A. Wampler. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by sister-in-law Nancy W. Guarascio and brother-in-law Dr. John S. Mumma.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 10:30 AM at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth Township, PA. Interment will be private.
