Barbara Ungar

Barbara Ungar, 91, of Sarasota, FL, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Tidewell Sarasota Hospice House. Born April 28, 1917, in Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Yitzchak and Betty Schwartz Ungar. Miss Ungar was a retired manager of accounts and Executive Director of Membership for the Book of the Month Club and founding member of Temple Beth Shalom in Mechanicsburg, PA. She is survived by cousins, Edith Mendlowitz, Joseph Ungar, Marian Ungar Davis, and Joseph Mendlowitz; nieces and nephews, Albert (Elayne) Ungar, Edward (Rosalie) Ungar, Joyce Levai, Robert (Mary) Levai, Jay (Molly) Ungar, and many other loving family and friends including Regina Rosenblum and Mike and Brenda Watson. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at 12:00 Noon, at New Gemilas Chesed Cemetery, White Oak, with Rabbi Machum Brand officiating. The family suggests contributions to Temple Beth Shalom, 913 Allendale Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132 is in charge of arrangements.
