On Easter Sunday evening, March 23, 2008, Geraldine Heatherington celebrated the fulfillment of this life and entered eternity with Christ, her Lord. She died at UPMC McKeesport, with her five children at her side.

Born in McKeesport on April 30, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. Robert M. and Genevieve (Smith) Heft. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1950 and attended Slippery Rock State College. She was a loving mother and homemaker.

The widow of the late T. Gerald Heatherington of McKeesport, her life was always about her family and caring for others.

She will be deeply missed by her children: Susan of White Oak, Faith (Red) Kowalski and Brigid (Albert) Slack of North Huntingdon, JaneMarie (Dominic) DiDomenico of Penn Hills, and Paul Heft (Kelly) Heatherington of White Oak. She leaves beloved grandsons Darin Kowalski, T.J. and Robbie Heatherington, and Brian (Beth) Kowalski, and great grandchildren Lauren and Jason Kowalski of Orlando, FL. The dogs she so loved, Buddy and Rusty, will also miss her.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Chotiner and her loving cousin, Pat McGivern Kerr.

Arrangements are being handled by D. James Heatherington and the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport. Friends will be received Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Chervenak and the Rev. Matthew Elanjileth at St. Angela Merici Church in White Oak at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2008. Burial will be at New St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Serra Catholic High School or to the McKeesport Hospital Foundation.
