H. Lewis Mason

H. Lewis Mason died Monday, November 19, 2001 in Sumner Regional Medical Center. Born in Brownsville, PA June 13, 1902, age 99. Formerly of McKeesport, currently of Gallatin, TN.

Owner of the former Mason’s Card Shop in McKeesport, he was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of McKeesport, where he served as Church School Superintendent and was a trustee of its Administrative Board. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Gallatin, TN, former trustee, Carnegie Library of McKeesport, Past President of its Friends of the Library, Board Member Emeritus, United Methodist Training Center, Jumonville, a volunteer for McKeesport Meals On Wheels, 50 year member of Youghiogheny Lodge #583, F&AM, Knights Templar, Syria Temple of the Shrine, was Past President & Secretary of the Rotary Club of McKeesport, Past President of the McKeesport Parking Authority, and volunteered in Gallatin at the Edward Ward Carmack Library and at Sumner Memorial Hospital.

Son of the late Frank Demain and Lou Hormell Mason, husband of the late Gladys Hoerr Mason, he is survived by his daughter, Barbara Lou Snell, son in law, Bob Snell, and nieces & nephews.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 2:00 PM in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Snodgrass officiating and Hunter Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of arrangements. The family suggests contributions to the First United Church of McKeesport or the First United Methodist Church of Gallatin, TN or to the Friends of the Carnegie Library of McKeesport.
