Lillian S. Ekin

Lillian S. Ekin died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. Formerly of White Oak, she was born November 3, 1910 in McKeesport, daughter of the late George E. and Eva Knight Smith. She was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon. A member of Central’s Women’s Association, she was a past member of the White Oak Women’s Club and the McKeesport Hospital Junior Committee, serving the snack bar as a volunteer for 22 years. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis D. Ekin, sons, Edward H. and and infant son, James Leonard Ekin; two sisters, Margaret Blice and Dorothy Evans. She is survived by her daughter, Sally McCulloch and her husband, Bruce, of Erie, daughter-in-law, Mary Anne (Mrs. Edward) Ekin of Renfrew, PA, and by her sister, Sarah (Sally) Haberman and her husband John, of Greenock Heights, also 3 grandsons, James and David Ekin, Jeffrey Seeger, 4 step grandchildren, Gary Goepfert, Mark, John, and Julie McCulloch, 3 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport Wednesday, February 28 from 2-5:30 PM, where a service will be held at 5:30 PM with the Rev. Dr. Darrell Knopp officiating. Private entombment will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions to a favorite charity.
