Lily Rosner

Lily Rosner died Sunday, April 19, 2009 in the Charles Morris Nursing Center. Born in London, England April 5, 1918, age 91. Of McKeesport, she was a former dressmaker in London, was a member of the Temple B’nai Israel and its Sisterhood, the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary, the National Steelworkers Oldtimers Foundation, and Silver Sneakers at the McKeesport YMCA. During WWII, she served as a mail carrier in Bournemouth, England.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Eglash Freedman, stepdaughter of the late Betty Joseph Freedman, sister of the late Max Freedman and Sarah Goldberg, she is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Herman Rosner; 2 sons, David (Joyce) Rosner of Philadelphia and Leon A. (Una Greenaway) Rosner of Hawaii; 2 grandchildren, Perri and Drew Rosner; brother, Alf Freedman of London, England; 2 sisters, Renee Woolf of Pittsburgh, and Phyllis Levine of Elyria, OH.

A service will be held in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132 on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with friends received 1 hour prior to the service. Rabbi Dr. Daniel L. Schiff will officiate, and interment will follow in the Temple Cemetery, Versailles Borough. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, Pittsburgh Chapter, 1 Station Square, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or to Three Rivers Hospice.
