Martha Calhoun Bathe

Martha Calhoun Bathe died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. Born in McKeesport November 14, 1913, age 94. Of Greensburg, formerly of Lincoln Way in White Oak, she retired in June of 1982 after 35 years of service as a teacher in the McKeesport Area School District, having taught for 30 years at the White Oak Elementary School. A 50 year member of Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church and a 16 year member of its Tuxis Sunday School Class, she was a member of the National Education Association, White Oak Chapter #2294, AARP, McKeesport Association of Retired School Personnel, Friends of the Carnegie Library of McKeesport, and was a life member of the Retired School Employees Association. She was a former member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star. A graduate of Slippery Rock University, she was a member of its Alumni Association.

Daughter of the late Havilla Adley and Martha Ellen Jones Calhoun, wife of the late William Frederick Bathe, Jr., she is survived by 3 daughters, Patricia (John) Nofsinger of Charlotte, NC, Susan (Scott) Denniston of Chantilly, VA, and April (William) Roesner of North Huntingdon, PA; 6 grandchildren, Amy (David) Kafitz, Brian (Angela) Nofsinger, Jeffrey Denniston, Andrew (Alexi) Denniston, William & Zachary Roesner; 3 great grandchildren, Emma & Katherine Kafitz and John Robert Nofsinger. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Buchweitz and brother, John Calhoun.

Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, where a service will be held Saturday, December 8 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. J. Bruce Byers and the Rev. Martin White officiating. Interment will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, 750 Holiday Drive, Foster Plaza #9, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
