Nila Pearson Myers, 67, a lifelong McKeesport resident, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at UPMC Shadyside. Born September 4, 1941, in McKeesport, she was daughter of the late Gust and Laura Kincaid Pearson and wife of Raymond F. Myers.
Mrs. Myers was a graduate of McKeesport High School in 1959 and Robert Morris University. A lifelong member and deacon of Central Presbyterian Church, she served as its former financial secretary and was also a member of its Women’s Association and its Quilters. Mrs. Myers volunteered at UPMC as a member of the McKeesport Hospital Junior Committee in the Gift Shop for over 42 years serving in many capacities including two terms as president. She also served as a member of the McKeesport Hospital Foundation Board of Directors in addition to various other community affairs and activities throughout the years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Scott (Ann) Myers of North Huntingdon, daughter, Laurie (Stephen) Junker of North Huntingdon; 5 grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Eric, Brett, and Grace. Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Henderson and Lois Kunkle.
Friends will be received Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132. A service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 10:00 AM, at Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Darrell Knopp and the Rev. Richard L. Huggins officiating. Entombment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions to Central Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or McKeesport Hospital Foundation.
