Robert "Bobby" Gaal

Robert “Bobby” Gaal, 88, of McKeesport, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Riverside Care Center. A retired bread baker, he was a member of the Baker and Confectionary Workers Local Unions #44 and #12, and served as the union business agent for Local #44. A member of the Temple B’nai Israel, he was the business manager for the McKeesport Little Tigers football team, a proud sponsor of all McKeesport High School girls and boys athletic teams, and a member of several athletic booster clubs.. Mr. Gaal also worked at Weiss Brothers Construction Company in McKeesport, the McKeesport Parking Authority, and was a WWII US Army veteran serving with the 284th Combat Engineering Division. Born in New York City, NY on October 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Izsak Gaal; husband of the late Helen Marcella “Ushie” Weiss Gaal; and is survived by his two sons, Gary (Cheryl) Gaal of Squirrel Hill and Steve (Sheri) Gaal of Folcroft, PA; granddaughters, Sara Gaal of Swissvale and Lindsey (Marty) Wiley of Springfield, PA, and grandson, Brandon Gaal of Folcroft, PA. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 11 at noon at the Tree of Life/Sfard Cemetery with Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132 in charge of arrangements. The family suggests contributions to the Athletic Department of McKeesport Area High School, 1960 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132.
